 Even if you work 12h day and do everything your boss tell you, even if you are the most dedicated worker(TM) of the company, you'll never make enough for a living. And on top of that you are worth nothing for them, you'll be fire in the first "crisis", they will blame oil prices, war in Africa or whatever flu pandemic, they will simply get rid of you

Yes, the $7,320/week figure is reasonably accurate on a gold basis.

July 1971 federal min wage: $1.60/hr = $64/week (40 hrs).
Official gold price: $35/oz.
That wage bought ~1.83 oz of gold per week.

At ~$4,000/oz today: 1.83 × $4,000 = $7,320.

Using gold as the constant shows the dollar's loss of purchasing power since the end of Bretton Woods. Actual mid-1971 market gold was slightly higher (~$40), which would push the equivalent a bit lower, but $35 is the standard reference for these comparisons and the number holds up closely.
